Passion as a hobbyhorse

Years spent in her studio, her laboratory, as she likes to call it. Years of research characterized by overlapping ecstasy and discouragement – much like her daily reality! In short, the continuous journey of a dynamic, tireless artist-painter who is determined to take on the challenge, to find herself through her paintings, which have become hobbyhorses. She evolves in her visceral need to create, and day after day, she traces a path – her path – which she follows. Kneeling on the floor, she positions a square of white canvas – the beginning, the birth of an entity. The work is yet to be created, and the big challenge: to surpass herself! Best pictoral composition, best gestures, best results – subjects that surprise and disappoint. Panic always reigns in the place. Then, an explosion of forms, figures, crazy lines and pigment-filled colours emerges, which infringes on her state of mind. What amazing work!!!

Passion, always & forever… And now the path is more and more direct, the guidelines are pushed aside, but not the anxiety! Line and form stand out. Confidence has taken over, but research is ongoing, and the workload increases. It’s a shift, a passage: deconstruction. A sense of obligation to go see other things and how things are done elsewhere. The same white square canvas remains the creation challenge, with the expectation of discoveries that transform the motifs through gestures, strength and concentration. She takes the roundabout route, one where it’s impossible to stop. The work is in the making, starting with the “GO” that propels it full tilt ahead into the heart of the matter: stopping prohibited. She lets go, withdraws and lets the creation, still unknown the preceding moment, flow out. The horrible beast that is doubt is subdued. The artist breaks away from the beaten path, and disturbs things. The message is conveyed through the work – the artist’s own unique message.
